The Czech Republic, Karlstejn

We took the train to Karlstejn to enjoy the most wonderful castle there. It's a beautiful town to walk around and they even have their own locally brewed beer which we tried after our long stroll.

Karlstejn Castle is a large Gothic castle founded in 1348 by Charles IVHoly Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia. The castle served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia as well as the Bohemian/Czech crown jewels, holy relics, and other royal treasures that we didn't get to see... where's the trust!

Nagymaros and Visegrád, Hungary - We're so happy to have seen you!

Today we got off to a late start, it was like a comedy of errors, we had to sort out our little electrical problem and my phone card ran out of money and charge so we were in the dark for a while... no pun intended.

First thing in order was to top up the money on our phone card, to our surprise you can't fill a German sim card in Hungary you have to get a new sim card with a new number... lovely! To cut a long story short, we got the phone sorted out and had our breakfast at about noon and raced to get our tickets to Nagymaros we then literally sprinted to catch our train... it was like watching something from the amazing race.

Visegrád is a small castle town in Hungary, our plan was to hike up to the old ruins which you can see on the top of the hill, these plans had to change because of our late start. From Nagymaros we took the ferry across to Visegrad and we walked and visited all of the very interesting ruins throughout the town... it was a spectacular visit and What a Day to remember!

Signing off.

The ruins at the top of the hill was our original plan
and the late start prevented us going up... next time.

Esztergom, Hungary / Štúrovo, Slovakia .... and a Basilica to behold!

We arrived by train to the city of Esztergom and we walked extensively around the city. Esztergom is located in northern Hungary, it lies in  on the bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia via the bridge that you can see in the pictures.

It was well worth the time to visit but we were exhausted after a very long enjoyable day. Upon arriving to our apartment the first thing we did was to turn on the air conditioning, lo and behold, it wouldn't turn on and neither would anything else... the electricity had been cut off by the electric company. So without electrical service for a day so we had to improvise... dinner was interesting as we had already prepared chicken primavera, so we had it cold in a sandwich by candlelight and it was delicious. You really feel lost without power, Ce and I were saying that the only thing more inconvenient would be to have no water.

We'll talk soon.
